Join the King County Play Equity Coalition for a compelling two-part lunchtime webinar series exploring the landscape of youth sports in Washington State!

Through insightful dialogue with a panel of experts, we’ll delve into both the pressing challenges and promising opportunities shaping the future of youth athletics. Topics will include challenges around coach training, abuse prevention, injury and accessing affordable programs as well as discussion of the public health possibilities and community benefits, state-wide, if all youth had access to high quality sport experiences. We welcome legislators, nonprofit leaders, coaches, program providers, advocates, public health champions, mental health providers, funders, parents and young people to be part of this important conversation.

The Equity and Inclusion Sports Star Award, presented in partnership with the Seattle Sports Commission and Bank of America, honors individuals or organizations driving systemic change in youth sports. This award recognizes those who have created lasting, equitable opportunities for historically marginalized youth to experience the joy and transformational power of sports. By fostering inclusivity, leadership, and community engagement, the award highlights the vital role of sports-based youth development in building resilience, confidence, and well-being. Tony Gomez

SWIM EQUITY ACTION TEAM
Tony Gomez has dedicated over two decades to swim safety and drowning prevention. His expertise in violence and injury prevention, combined with hands-on experience ranging from national policy advocacy to coaching and lifeguarding, serves as an inspiration to us all. We are honored to learn from Tony's passion and deep knowledge.
Maura Kizito

2024 SHARED LEARNING ACTION TEAM
Maura Kizito is a community leader, healer, and self-described "creature of nature." Through her work with Wakulima USA, Maura has championed food justice and land access, empowering low-income immigrants and communities of color in the Puget Sound region. Her leadership in advancing food sovereignty and small business development is a model for us all.
Alexandra Foster

2024 SHARED LEARNING ACTION TEAM & SOCCER EQUITY ACTION TEAM
As Executive Director of America Scores Seattle, Alexandra Foster has been an invaluable member of the Coalition. Her contributions to the 2024 Shared Learning Action Team have enriched our community, and her recent leadership in facilitating the Soccer Equity Action Team marks an exciting new chapter. This team is gearing up to collaborate with the upcoming World Cup, and we are grateful for Alexandra’s dedication and vision.
Linnea Westerlind

ADVOCACY ACTION TEAM
Since its inception, Linnea Westerlind has been a driving force behind the Advocacy Action Team. Her leadership was instrumental in passing the Recess Bill in Washington State, and she continues to push our 2024 legislative agenda forward. Linnea's efforts to bring Coalition members with minimal advocacy experience into the process have been transformative for our community.

OUTDOOR RECREATION ACTION TEAM
As we celebrate the success of our third annual THRIVE Outside Day, we recognize Maya Bui’s pivotal role in facilitating this event. Her enthusiasm, community engagement, and deep expertise in youth programs have been vital to the Outdoor Recreation Action Team's work. We are excited to continue collaborating with Maya in the year ahead!
