This year’s 4th Annual Sports Sampling Camp was a hit! Built on the successes of previous years with fun and diverse activities, the King County Play Equity Coalition collaborated with the Seattle Alliance, the Seattle Sports Commission, and dedicated local youth-serving organizations to host about 50-60 kids each day from August 19th – 23rd. From ultimate frisbee with the Seattle Tempest/Cascades to rowing with the George Pocock Rowing Foundation, each day was packed with opportunities for young athletes to explore new sports and activities. The week culminated in a Jamboree day, featuring a variety of activities from the week. The support from Burien Parks and the smooth operation of the programs contributed to a memorable experience where kids not only learned new sports but also developed valuable life skills like teamwork and sportsmanship. The camp once again highlighted the joy of sports sampling, fostering a love for diverse athletic experiences and reinforcing the importance of community collaboration in youth sports development.
