ABOUT the event

SEATTLE PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAMS UNITE TO SUPPORT KING COUNTY PLAY EQUITY COALITION AND ADVANCE SHARED VISION FOR EQUITABLE ACCESS TO SPORTS AND PLAY

The Coalition is always excited to partner with pro-sports team members and youth-serving sports-based organization members. 

At the Pro Sports Sampling Camp, your young athlete will gain the technical skills and knowledge required for their next step into a variety of sports. Areas of focus will be, but not limited to, soccer, basketball, football, and other sports. By the end of the program, your child will have learned new life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship, made new friends, and improved their sports skills.

What is the seattle alliance?

The Seattle Alliance is a partnership between all professional sports teams in Seattle to improve play equity in the region. 

WHAT IS PLAY EQUITY?

Sports, play, and outdoor recreation can be transformative for youth. Research suggests being active improves grades, self-confidence, resilience, boosts the immune system, and helps kids heal from stress and trauma. Yet only 23% of youth in King County get the CDC recommended amount of activity per day. Systemic barriers, like cost and lack of fields, have disenfranchised many youth from physical activity based on their zip code, race/ethnicity, language spoken at home, gender, or ability. Play equity is when all youth are able to experience the joy and transformative benefits of sport, play, and outdoor recreation in their own communities on their own terms.

What is the seattle alliance DOING TO INCREASE PLAY EQUITY?

The Seattle Alliance has pledged $500,000 to support the King County Play Equity Coalition.
