Hi Coalition and community members! This past weekend, we held our 2nd annual Play Day. The event was TERRIFIC! With over 450 youth and families coming out to the Tukwila Community Center, the day was packed with fun and diverse activities, opportunities to connect with local youth programs and cool giveaways.
Here’s a rundown of the fun activities kids got to try:
- Street hockey (by Seattle Kraken)
- STEM-based activities (by Starfire Sports)
- Circus (by SANCA)
- Pickleball, indoor volleyball, golf, and basketball (by Tukwila Community Center)
- Rugby (by Seattle Seawolves)
- Cheer & Lacrosse (by Skyhawks)
- Baseball (by Seattle Mariners)
- Soccer (by Seatown FC and Ballard FC)
- Nature-Based Art (by Braided Seeds)
- Running and Field Games (by Girls on the Run and Brooks Beast Running)
- Adaptive/Wheelchair Basketball (Seattle Adaptive Sports)
Families also had access to amazing resource tables from partners AMR, UW Medicine, Washington Trails Association, Burien Community Center, Bras for Girls, and Safe Kids South King County.
Additionally, we are beyond grateful for the following partners:
- A special shoutout to Bike Works for their generous donation of three kids’ bikes, which we raffled off to lucky families! 🚲💫
- A huge thank you to the Tukwila Community Center for hosting us in such a beautiful space.
- No one left hungry thanks to DELICIOUS meals provided by local restaurants Spice Wala (wraps) and Garzon (rice bowls) 😋
- And let’s not forget our DJ—Luke Cruz—who kept the energy high all day with his funky, upbeat tracks! 🎶🕺
