Apply to become a Physical Activity Coordinator!

The PAC program will provide middle schools in Seattle, Tacoma, Kent, and Wenatchee with an AmeriCorps Physical Activity Coordinator (PAC). The PAC can help support before/afterschool physical activity opportunities, recess/lunch time activity, and help teachers infuse activity into their classroom in order to increase awareness about the importance of physical activity to physical and mental health and increase the overall rates of physical activity for youth in those school communities. This project is funded by the National Institutes for Health and supported by Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Why Join Americorps?

  • Receive a $23,103 living stipend- Living allowance amount that is allotted during the completion of the 1200-hour service term as outlined in the PAC Contract.
  • Receive a $4,826.50 education award- The Segel Service Education Award can be applied towards cost of attendance at accredited colleges and universities, extension school courses, existing qualified loan payments, and other various education programs.
  • Career Readiness Programs. Full-time staff at Up2Us Sports are dedicated to supporting PACs post-service career or education goals. Exclusive trainings, networking, and job-shadowing opportunities with employers across various industries. 1-on-1 support in use of the education award, career exploration, goal setting, resume feedback and more!
  • Free Healthcare and Dental Care

This is a free event for youth, by youth, co-hosted by the Community Center for Education Results (CCER), League of Education Voters (LEV), and a team of youth partners from across the state. 

When: Saturday, September 16 from 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Highline College – 2400 South 240th Street, Des Moines, WA 98198

Alongside our youth partners, we invite students, parents, leaders, and members of the community to come listen, learn, and participate in the events that students are putting on. Learn from their experiences with school. See what issues they are passionate about. Listen to and honor their hopes for the future.

Puget Sound Regional Council Equity Advisory Committee is Recruiting!

Join PSRC’s 2024 cohort of the Equity Advisory Committee to help guide PSRC’s racial equity work. They are looking for residents and staff from governmental and community-based organizations that have a clear understanding of the barriers being faced by communities of color and other marginalized residents in your neighborhoods.

The Equity Advisory Committee helped create the Legacy of Structural Racism Interactive ReportEquity Planning Resources, and Equity Impact Assessment Tool. Equity Advisory Committee members who are not compensated by their employers or another organization for their participation, will be paid $125 per meeting for their time and insights.

Up2Us Sports looking for a Program Manager

Up2Us Sports is a national nonprofit organization that is focused on the power of coaches to transform the lives of our nation’s most vulnerable youth, and the communities they live in, through sports. Up2Us Sports is based on a simple premise: That highly trained coaches can be among the most transformative adults in young people’s lives and inspire their success on the field, in the classroom, and in life.

The Program Manager will serve as the main point of contact for a cohort(s) of Up2Us Sports AmeriCorps Coaches, their programs, and partnering organizations. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that Up2Us Sports AmeriCorps Coaches and partnering organizations are properly supported and experience high-quality services and outcomes. This position will be remote and will work closely with the Senior Program Director to expand various markets while meeting programmatic and funding compliance requirements. Remote in Seattle, WA or Oakland, CA. Full time: $40,000 to $44,000.

Volleyball Scholarships Available

The YMCA received funding to offer up to 25 100% scholarships for our upcoming co-Ed volleyball league for grades 3-8 at our Meredith Mathews YMCA. Please email tvincent@seattleymca.org if you have a group you would want to share this opportunity with or have anyone in mind. 

 

Part Time Soccer Coaches Wanted
